Apex SEO
I founded this company in 1997 at a tender age and worked out of my grandparents' basement for two years before moving to dedicated office space. My business partner and I provided SEO services for companies ranging from small local businesses and startups to huge multinationals... we sold the company in 2005.
Accenture
Back in the days before "AI" was on the tip of everyone's tongue, I worked as a consultant with Accenture to develop a big data analytics "Platform as a Service" (PaaS). From infrastructure (think Linux and Hadoop) to the machine learning and natural language processing that powers modern LLMs, the small team I worked with designed the whole thing.
Maryland Department of Housing
In 2015, the Maryland Department of Housing & Community Development was looking to both launch a new primary site and build out a new communications initiative on a separate WordPress website. The organization brought me in to work with their Director of Marketing & Communications, internal IT department, and Maryland DoIT to consult on the new site launch and lead the WordPress launch.
Columbia Association (CA)
Brought in to provide an overarching assessment of this nonprofit's marketing and communications department, I worked with a business partner to conduct discovery and report on the departmental gaps that were stunting membership sales and programmatic growth. CA now loves UTM parameters (shouldn't we all?), A/B testing, and tracking CPL and CPA.
John Wiley & Sons (for Insourced)
Teamed up with my business partner from Apex, I co-founded Insourced LLC and we counted among our largest clients John Wiley & Sons. What started as a pure marketing copywriting contract morphed into our development of a natural language processing application (again, think "AI") to tag a massive backlog of titles in the Wiley catalog that were missing important metadata. The backlog sat for years. We cleared it in two weeks.
Locate Jobs Network
This network of niche job boards was born from a simple conversation with an old friend working as an in-house tech recruiter. Highly targeted sites connect candidates and the employers who wish to reach them, with an emphasis on a variety of industries, including diversity hiring initiatives. Job seekers can now search every board from inside Claude, through our listing in Anthropic's Claude directory, and the setup guide for other AI assistants is on GitHub.
